Taking photos over the past 15 years has become, for me, an obsessive way of journaling my life from England to the West. I have documented everything—from my daily ranch work, my animals, and my friends, to the landscapes, the transient moments that take my breath away, and the scenes and images that have left indelible marks on my heart and psyche.

As well as a way to journal it is often an act of deep reverence—a way to attempt to capture even a fraction of the beauty and power of the land and the life it sustains, including my family, our animals, and myself. It’s both a thrill and a near-addiction to bear witness to fleeting moments that often feel profound and grounding at once.

I am deeply grateful to feel at home in vast, wild landscapes—places that exhilarate, nurture, and teach us, offer solace and joy, revealing their magic wherever we allow. ourselves to see it.

With a childhood roaming horseback across the South Downs in England I have felt connected to wild and large landscapes my whole life. The need to be immersed in land and the life it offers pulled me from an early career in magazines, in London to ranch life in Montana. After helping build a ranch vacation marketing company and learning the beginnings of livestock and land management, an opportunity lead me to Colorado.

My background in photography and media, combined with a love of ranching, enabled me to take on a unique position as Ranch Manager and PR Director for Ranchlands, living on and managing The Nature Conservancy-owned Zapata Ranch for 11 years. After a bittersweet farewell to the landscapes, horses, and wildlife of the San Luis Valley that had become ingrained in me, my husband, our two children, horses, and dogs have moved back to Montana to begin a new chapter.

Here, on the eastern Montana prairie, we have found clarity in what’s important to us and our family. We are committed to raising our children—the fourth generation—on Justin’s family ranch in eastern Montana. With a deep respect for the land and its wildlife, we are beginning our own journey of raising cattle and horses while cultivating in our children the values of stewardship, intention, and the balance of life on the prairie.
